It was a chilly run today 🥶🦝 I’m not a spooky girlie, but I did like the reminder I got as the sun came up…. Three little birds

<rant> Why did I scoff at the TikTok ban? Literally everything you are doing can be tracked and hacked, from your TV to your robot vacuum to your car. We don’t require companies to demonstrate responsible security practices and that’s an expensive department to maintain so …
And it’s not even about getting hacked. Data gets turned over to law enforcement all the time, often without your knowledge, because our laws about data privacy are few and spotty. Sure, foreign companies harvesting our data is a problem, but are we okay with local companies doing it? And if they do it, how safe is that data?
Leave your phone at home when you do social activism. Maybe leave your car, too? https://www.wired.com/story/subaru-location-tracking-vulnerabilities/

In case you are wondering, yes, there are still scientists arguing with creationists about evolution over on Twitter/X. You’re not missing much by leaving that place.
Neil G.: What a movie. Like Biff’s 1985 from Back to the Future Pt. 2, 2.o.
Aaron S.: Please, we don’t even have to go that far. We’ve got all kinds of people on campus who don’t believe in evolution.
Jesse N.: I never went there to begin with. I always thought it was a horrible or platform. To be fair though I think social media in general is probably more damaging to society than beneficial. The night of the internet was when education institutes were sharing their courses for free and scientific journals. I’d even argue that online shopping was great for people who don’t like people and happily have everything they can delivered

I didn’t know it would be a “stir the pot” kind of day, but here we are.
Neil G.: It is warm soup season. Been craving some really beety borscht lately!
Amber Tee: Every day.
Aaron S.: You have not-stirring-the-pot days? Huh.
Jesse N.: Soooo, situation normal? 🤷♂️😆😎

New red flag on a dating profile:
Tantra yoga
I will not explain. 🚩🚩🚩
Grant W.: Still trying to figure out why “I don’t pursue, I attract” is a red flag. Life has been way better for me since I switched to this mode. 🤔

January 23, 2025 (Thursday) – “Last night, in an interview with host Sean Hannity on the Fox News Channel, President Donald Trump tried to explain away his blanket pardons for the January 6 rioters, calling the instances of violence against police officers “very minor incidents.”
In fact, as Brett Samuels of The Hill reported, about 600 of the rioters were accused of assaulting, resisting, or impeding police officers, and ten were convicted of sedition.”
