June is also Men’s Mental Health Month.
First of all HUGE HUGS to all the men I know that have been working on themselves and taking their healing process seriously. I’m encountering more and more men who are doing the work, and it shows.
Bobby has been a rock and a partner for me because he not only gives me space and support, but he takes responsibility for his personal growth. I cannot emphasize how much better it is to be in a relationship with a man who doesn’t need me to do all of the emotional labor.
And secondly, this post got me because this is the cause and the solution. Women have been asking and demanding men go to therapy for decades. They will not listen to us. But men listen to other men because you have a shared experience. Y’all need to uplift and celebrate each other for doing this personal work. Throw a parade. Hug each other more often. Plan a monthly support group cookout. Check in on your buddies.

Some of you know my house used to be a place for parties and hangouts. I miss those days and that sense of community. Can’t ever get it back, of course, but for good or bad, I treasure all of the memories.
So many of y’all have scattered to the wind. Taking off for adventures or settling into a more adulty phase of life.
Maybe you remember I had that huge blue vase I’d throw bottle tops into. Not all of them but selections from different parties. I’m ready to part with that now but I had the absolute pleasure of shifting through the tops and being bathed in memories again.
If you were a guest in my house, please know how loved you are and how rich you have made my life.
