Quick question: was the late 70s just dominated by horrible fashion or did I get dressed in the ugliest clothing as a kid on purpose? I need to know if I should take it personally. 😳

Aaron S.: Hey I was the height of fashion with my brown, plaid, bell bottom, polyester pants!
Mary C.: Our parents also really didn’t have much choice. It felt like Sears and Kmart were about it, unless your parents had real money in the 70s. I guess those kids went to Iveys or May Cohen.
Matthew S.: The patterns and color palettes were great. The cuts and fits? Atrocious. But exciting because there was so much more experimentation possible. Just not a lot of it good.
The second full decade of inexpensive mass-produced ready-to-wear wasn’t without its high spots, but we weren’t all wearing Bob Mackie. Mostly Grranimals.
